Tuesday's Knitting Away - Hats Off To Maine!

Joining "Frontier Dreams" today and sharing my creations.

I got my son's and girlfriend's hats done and sent to Maine.  The Big Hat - Free Pattern is a great pattern with jaunty pom poms on the top.   I did it in Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn in Cranberry (the red) and Claret.  Aren't they lovely reds?   The camera really doesn't do the colors justice, a perfect rich red and such a beautiful burgundy!  Hopefully they'll get across the U.S. by Christmas.   I hated to say goodbye to the hats, feeling like I had a connection to my son and his special girl.  It's hard being away from them, but my son is embraced by his girl's family and he'll be apart of the family there and have a great time.

I'm busily working on hats for my family here and I'm making this quick knit for my husband who this time, hopefully, won't read my blog!

Simply Super Bulky Hat - Free Pattern

I had some grey Lion Brand Hometown USA Yarn that my husband picked up on a whim a few months back because he liked it.  I only had the #15 circular needles and since the descriptions of this hat mentioned the Large could be a bit smaller, I figured the larger size needles would be perfect.  Well see, I have one of his favorite hats here and I'll match it up to that.  I'm also thinking of adding a row or two to the length as recommended by one knitter to insure good coverage.  I always read a lot of the previous knitters of a pattern if I can, it gives good hints on how to do a project when using a Ravelry pattern.

Nicole says: "The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link" on her blog, link above.

  1. Your hats are beautiful! And you make them so fast. I don't know how you do it!

    1. Believe me, these hats just make you feel like you're fast! They knit up on 15's. I used the circular needle then the double points. I get to make about 3 more , then I want one.
