This book is a collection of short adventure stories from the "Men's Journal" over a decade. Just because I can't resist I want to include a beautiful quote I read yesterday from an entirely different story about a man in the wilderness. p. 82
" Within them are mountain ranges nearly two miles high- the Mogollon and the Diablo, the Mimbres and the Black. Ancient forests of ponderosa pines, Douglas firs, Engelmann spruces bristle up the slopes, while agave and prickly pear cling to the canyon bottoms. Rare Gila trout hold in the pools of the streams and rivers, waiting for what food the swift currents bring them; elk graze in high alpine meadows, desert bighorn sheep stand poised on steep ledges, black bears prowl remote gorges. All in all, it's territory that at least resembles the America that stretched from sea to sea before the 'stern impassioned stress' of Pilgrim feet began to beat a path that appears to have led our civilization to the shopping mall." Yes, it's a very guy thing, but I'm enjoying the adventure stories and the sense of being transported someplace else. Also good writing is just great to read. He'll enjoy it. Check out my Musing Monday's for some more guy reads for your hubby.
