Wednesday's Yarns - Cowl's Galore

I finished my cowl last week for a gift.  It came out perfect.  Only two days to knit and I'm a slow knitter.  Made from KnitPick's Swish DK Yarn.  It's very soft, only one skein needed and knit on size #7 fixed circular needles (KnitPicks).  I adapted the pattern Meriboo Cabled Cowl by Lisa Ellis, increasing the cast on stitches to 116 (with an extra stitch cast on to get a seamless edge, see TinCanKnit's Support page for how to cast on circular needles).  I changed the rib to 2 X 2 and the knit to a simple stockinette, so it be fast, simple and a smooth soft surface.  I'm really pleased and plan to get more yarn to make more of them for gifts.

Meanwhile, I've started a new cowl for myself to match my "Ecology Hat" I made last year.  I'm using KnitPicks' Preciosa Tonal Worsted Yarn in Bonsai.  Amazingly soft yarn, great colors.  I'm casting on 110 stitches (plus one for a  jogless connect, see above note).  I plan to just knit so I get the same roll as the hat.  It's going to be fabulous!

I started a new read in the Lynn Kurland series - This is All I Ask.  This one I read I think twice before, but it's so endearing, I just love it!  Mind you, I never re-read books, unless it's Diana Gabaldon or Karen Marie Moning, or Lynn Kurland.  So I guess time travel and romance and fantasy are always a good bet for returning to.  It seems books like this create a world you want to escape into and right now I need an escape world!!!

Peace Project 2017

Last year I participated in the Peace Project 2016.  It was wonderful.  A beautiful cowl and a rhythmic knit and every day there was a peace tip for 21 days.  The thought being when peace is within it will ripple out.  This year the Peace Project will be a shawl with ripples and it was just unveiled today (a part of it to get started with getting supplies, the full pattern will be released start date December 1st.)!  Come join us.  Last year there were 200,000 participants.

    1. If you can't, do last year's Peace Project Cowl and read the posts from both years! A secret, I still need to finish last year's cowl. PEACE :)
