Wednesday's Yarns - The Ripples of Peace Shawl Done!

I often knit on several projects at once, trying to limit myself to only 3 projects at a time.  I'm still knitting away on my The Easy Bulky One sweater ("Knitting The Bulky Blue").  I get excited when I see how the black bean dyed yarn works knitted up ( Feeling the Blues - Dyeing with Black Beans).

I finished my  Ripples of Peace Shawl.  I'm really pleased with it and the exercise of focusing on peace while knitting was very helpful.  I hope to carry that feeling on into my future knitting.

The pattern - Project Peace 2017.

I tried to use every little bit of my yarn, I hate to waste.  Adding a whole border of ripples with the darker Mares Silky Merino.  Knitting and ripping out till I got it just right.  All that's left.

I just started a new book "The Spring at Moss Hill" (Swift River Valley) by Carla Neggers.  I've read her books before, and I enjoy them, but they usually are very slow paced, kind of like what I imagine Vermont to be.  Her descriptions of Vermont and emerging Spring are beautiful.

  1. I love your Project Peace shawl. Blue is the perfect color for peace. I bought the pattern, but the time to start it just hasn't quite arrived.

  2. That shawl is gorgeous! I too have the pattern. I think maybe you added some extra repeats of the border lace? Finishing the shawl at your own pace is my idea of a peaceful knit.

    1. Yes, I wanted to both use up all my yarn and I had a lot more of the dark, also I wanted it as long as possible to wrap a bit. So I had at first just did rows of eyelet holes and it didn't work, so I ripped that out. Then I repeated the lace and it was perfect. It kept the same drape as the lace, that scallop look. I'm real pleased with it.
