I'm over halfway through my Sherbet Heavenly Shawl, which was for the July Summer 2016 KAL. I am so loving the result of mixing the two colorways of Groovy and Pegasus in Chroma Fingering Yarn. I have just changed the colors as I hit one color that they both have. I also opened up the middle of each skein giving me four colors to choose from when I change. It's worked, but it doesn't have an mathematical clean equation of how it's done, I'm just changing to what seems right.
I've gotten lots more done this past few weeks listening to my favorite book series- Outlander- Audible. I much prefer to read, and now I'm on to the second book in the series- Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, Book 2) and since I'm waiting for a copy of the Audible recording from my oldest daughter, I'm reading the book only. I forgot how good the book is! But, I need to start listening soon so I can get more done. I've been pushing myself because there's another shawl KAL I want to do next week- Yarn Crawl Mystery. This one I can't resist, I'm going to do up in an ocean theme of colors called Ocean Crescent Shawl to celebrate going to Maine in October to see my son. He's studying Ecology and Sustainable Energy and building at College of The Atlantic right on the Atlantic Ocean. I haven't seen the ocean for over a decade and I love it so.
Tomorrow I'll catch you up on some other KALs I'm doing and some more just starting and coming up. I find I just love doing them, they keep me inspired, motivated and often teach me new techniques. Till Tomorrow.

Great colors! Very cheerful shawl. I just started reading Outlander - I know I read it back when I was in high school, but I just started watching the tv series, and wanted to get back into the books, since I never went beyond the first one. The show is pretty good!
ReplyDeleteThanks. The show is very good- you can see Diana Gabaldon's hand in it, but I love her words and descriptions in the books. She makes you feel like you're there; that's what I forgot about-the world she envelopes you in. Enjoy!
DeleteI love the ocean shawl colors! The ocean is my favorite destination in the world!
ReplyDeleteI read the first Outlander book but never picked up the second book. Now that I have watched the show, I go back and forth from wanting to read it and wanting just to enjoy the show. Maybe I'll pick up the book soon! :)
The books are so fun! Her writing is wonderful and descriptive. I dare you to open "Dragonfly in Amber" and be able to put it down! It re-starts the story in a very unexpected place. Very creative.
DeleteBar Harbor!! One of my fav places. I so want to go back.
ReplyDeleteIronically we went to Bar Harbor and camped at Acadia National Park (http://www.national-park.com/welcome-to-acadia-national-park/) when my son was 10 months old. I took him to a beach that was supposed to be the first tip that the sun struck on the East Coast (besides Cadillac Mt.), he stayed in his car seat, so I'm sure he doesn't remember, but it would've been interesting if I knew his future college would be there. I am so looking forward to visiting!
