Here's some KALs and patterns for free or just a few bucks-
I'm doing a Hat KAL to make hats for myself and for gifts for Christmas. Kind of a kick-off to knitting for the holidays. So here's a KAL you can use any pattern you want. Last week I posted a long list of free hat patterns and today I'll add to that list- Free Pattern Thursday- Hat Patterns Galore!
Hat KAL (Aug. 1st - End of Sept.)
"Hey Everyone! This thread is to see if anyone is interested in joining us for a Hat Knit Along! ... thought it’d be fun to do it leading up to fall. WIP’s will definitely be allowed! If you have any pattern recommendations or tips to share, we’d love to hear them! We will definitely have prizes... At this point, we’re planning on making as many of these hats during the KAL as we can". Link to join discussion and get details- Hat KAL.
Super Bulky Knit Hats-
The Bailey Hat takes Super Bulky so you can make this in Wool Ease Thick & Quick for a beautiful, but inexpensive hat. Or for some quality yarn at affordable prices try KnitPicks in the very soft Mighty Stitch Super Bulky or go fancy pricey (but well worth it!) and get Malabrigo Rasta Yarn.
Another Super Bulky Hat-
Also Super Bulky-
Another quick knit below is Man Hat, this one in Bulky. Here's a KnitPicks Bulky Yarn selection. Wool of the Andes Bulky Yarn is a %100 Peruvian wool in a lovely selection of colors and very affordable (their Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn is also a recommended yarn for worsted projects that runs $1.99 per skein). For the Man Hat Malabrigo Yarn Chunky is also recommended as giving good stitch definition.
Some Aran and Worsted Hats-
Regular Guy Beanie
This Tin Can Knits hat I can see being done in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn a worsted yarn for $1.99 per skein.
Also this hat is done in worsted and Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn which would work up nicely and they have amazing color selection. It's what I'm doing all my Christmas hats in.
Nutkin Sock KAL- FREE- Starts August 1st.
Sheila
Sheila is a mystery critter KAL that I'm doing, it started last week if you want to join. It's only $2, but during the mystery KAL there is a link to a coupon on the Ravelry site to make it free. It's fun and I'm enjoying doing it, also wondering what it is!
A Crescent Shawl KAL coming up August 20th Yarn Crawl Mystery.
"This Mystery is all about the interplay of two colors combined with interesting textures. The cost is only $1 until Sept. 3rd. The pattern includes two shapes to choose from: my classic crescent shawl, worked the top down and shaped with easy garter stitch short rows; and a rectangular stole, which is worked sideways to avoid tricky center joins... Solid and tonal yarns will work with this project beautifully as long as there is enough contrast between the two yarns so that the color changes are clear."
I'm doing this KAL and I'm trying to work on recreating the feel and look of the ocean in celebration of going in October to see my son at College of The Atlantic in Maine.
Have a Happy End of Summer and Dream of Fall
