Tuesday's Knitting Away

Joining "Frontier Dreams" today and sharing my creations.

I'm finishing the 3rd tier to my Elise's Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief  and I still have a lot left on my ball (60 grams), so hopefully I can get away with one more stockinette section than the original pattern.  I just want it a tad bigger. I really think ripping it all out last week was a good move, even though I've had to count and re-count stitches constantly to make sure I was on track.  The result is as I hoped- there's more yarn left to work with at this point.  So we'll see.  I have to gauge how much I need to finish it with a eyelet section and 3 final rows.  Maybe if I weigh it when I'm done with the upcoming eyelet section and three rows.  But my scale is really a kitchen scale and it doesn't go too far down for small amounts of yarn.  So we shall see. Winging possibly again.

My cat Oliver has been helpful lately. He comes and keeps me company while I knit and read.

Nicole says: "The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link" on her blog, link above.

  1. Nice earthy variegated yarn. I want to knit that pattern for a friend. It does seem like more of a neck shawl size than a shoulder sized shawl.

    1. My yarn here is Malabrigo Arroyo in Marte, but all their colors are lovely. So the yarn is actually 100 yds more than called for, but it's still going to be a bit small. If I do it again, and I probably will, I'd do 2 skeins and make it real full. It goes up fast but mine a bit slower because I ripped it out when almost done because I got the count off. So I'd recommend keeping close count and mark it off in sections to make it easier to countl. Have fun.
